It has long been considered that the main therapeutic
way to treat children attacked by epilepsy depends on anti-epileptic drugs.
And the purpose is to suppress clinical outbreaks. Recent study on
psychological behavior of children with chronic diseases indicates that the
ratio of psychological behavioral dysfunction happening in children
attacked by epilepsy seems significantly higher than those of healthy
children and other non-neurological chronic diseases. And psychological
behavioral dysfunction is the main reason leading to damage to the
childrens quality of life and the recurrence of epilepsy. The purpose of
this study is to try to give nursing intervention on their psychological
behavior, hoping to improve their quality of life.
Results: Changes of the score for quality of life
before and after intervention: We reassess the score of the 4 patients one
month after the intervention. Results show that the scores of the 4
patients all improve, although of different degrees. Compared with the
score before intervention, everyones score improve significantly. The mean
score improve from 48 before intervention to 77 after intervention.
Although our study group only include 4 patients, we primarily testified
that nursing intervention have some effects on improving the quality of
life for patients with epilepsy. While to further confirming this
conclusion, larger patient group and more detailed study should be
performed.
