APOLIPOPROTEIN E POLYMORPHISM AND PLASMA LIPID, LIPOPROTEIN,
APLIPORROTEIN LEVELS IN CHILDREN WITH FAMILY OF CORONARY HEART DISEASE Xiang W, Zhao SP,
Zheng C People's Hospital of Hainan
Province, Haikou, China Objective: To
investigate the distribution of apolipoprotein (apo) E polymorphism and
affection of apoE genotypes on plasma lipids in children with family of
coronary heart disease (CHD). Methods: ApoE
genotypes were determined by polymerase chain reaction-restricted fragments
length polymorphism. Results: Compared
with control group, the frequency of apo 4 allele was higher in children with family of CHD. It was
significantly higher in children whose parents or grandparents at 45 years
of age or younger with CHD. In children with family of CHD, The levels of
total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein-cholesterol, lipoprotein(a),
apoB100, apoE had difference among carrier with apo2, 3, 4 alleles. The
children with apo4 allele had higher levels of total cholesterol,
low density lipoprotein-cholesterol, apoB100, and lower levels of apoA I,
apoE than those with other apoE alleles. The children with apo2 allele had lower levels of total cholesterol, low
density lipoprotein-cholesterol, lipoprotein(a). Conclusion: There is
abnormality of apoE polymorphisms in children with family of CHD. ApoE
polymorphisms may affect plasma lipoproteins metabolism.
