China 2 Department of
Pediatrics, The Hospital of Heli Forestry Workers Objective: To study
changes in the whole blood selenium (WBSE) and serum antioxidation (SAOA)
levels in idiopathic nephrotic. Methods: The serum
AOA and whole blood selenium levels were measured in 60 patients with
idiopathic nephrotic syndrome aged from two to thirteen years. The serum
AOA was determined by TBA method and the whole blood selenium, by
fluorophotometry. Results: The results
showed that the serum AOA and whole blood selenium of 60 patients with INS
were much lower than those of the controls (p<01.01). Conclusion: All above
results suggested this disease the imbalance between oxidation and
antioxidation, and the poor selenium nutrition levels in the disease. Also
our study may provide theoretic basis for antioxidant drugs to treat INS.
