Objective: To investigate
the correlations between 5-HT and hyperactivity behavior through detecting
the change of 5-HT levels of children serum.
Methods:
416 cases from 4 to 16 in age were screemed
randomly.of whom 46 cases were found to have behavior deviation according
to Achenbach Child Behavior Checklist(CBCL) filled in by their parents.
3-4ml blood were drawn before meals, and preserved and examined. 30 cases
of normal behavior were chosen as control group.
Results:
1.According to the routine checklist for different ages and sex, among 46
cases of behavior deviations, 10 cases were found to have simple
hyperactivity, 5 cases were found to have compound factor abnormality and
32 cases appeared to have abnormality in outward factor and 39 cases
abnormality in inward factor. 2. Of 46 cases, the 5-HT levels in the blood
of 30 cases were detected, and the factor groups of different 5-HT were
compared. There were no significant difference between behavior trouble
groups and normal group(p0.05).There
is significantly higher levels in inward factor group than that in normal
group and outward factor group(p0.05.There is no significantly differences between
outward factor group and normal group(p0.05). 3.Behavior trouble groups of the same age
group is compared with normal group of the same age. there is no
significantly differences between that of 4 to 5 age group and that of 6 to
11 age group(p0.05).5-HTlevel of 12
to 16 age group with behavior deviation children is significantly higher
than that of normal group(p0.05.5-HT levels of different age groups in
behavior deviation were compared:5-HT levels were becoming increasingly
higher with age. There were significantly higher levels in 12 to 16 group
than that in 4 to 5 groups(p0.025.There was significantly higher levels in 6 to
11 group than that in 4 to 5 groups(p0.01.There
was no significantly differences between in 12 to 16 group and that in 6 to
11 groups(p0.05).
Conclusion:
1. 5-HT levels in blood is related to factor groups:
5-HT levels of inward factor groups are significantly higher than those in
normal group, 5-HT levels of hyperactivity behavior trouble group are
significantly lower than in inward factor group and in normal group. 2.
5-HT levels in blood is related to ages: 5-HT levels were becoming increasingly
higher with age in normal group and behavior trouble group, and the
difference is becoming more distinguished with age than in normal group. 3.
5-HT levels in blood is related to the occurrence of children behavior
trouble, chances are that 5-HT levels is one of basic components
contributing to hyperactivity behavior abnormal and the other behavior
trouble.
