EXPERIENCE OF A CLINIC OF ATTENTION TO THE
EMBARRASSED ADOLESCENT IN A HOSPITAL OF SOCIAL SECURITY IN MEXICO (ISSEMYM)

Objective:
To evaluate the evolution and the final result of the pregnancy in the
adolescents and their bio-psico-social repercussions, as much in them as in
their children and which are the responsible factors to elaborate a program
of integral attention to the adolescents.
Design
of the study: Open,
prospective, non experimental, descriptive.
Method: Pregnant adolescents were
studied that went to Adolescent's clinic, age, evolution of the pregnancy,
number of granted consultations, execution degree, civil state, school
degree, occupation, abortions, way of birth, gestational age, presence or
not of congenital malformations; were registered. For the analysis of data,
descriptive statistics were used.
Results:
186 pregnant adolescents were studied. The age average was 17 years.
100% of the patient had a normal pregnancy, and appropiate prenatal control. 22% was underwent to a
Caesarean operation, and the rest had normal births. Those recently born
ones were normal, without congenital malformations or low birth weight. The
opposing problem was the low schoolar degree of the patients and its low
educational level: alone 5 of 186 worked; which excludes them of
possibilities of improvement. 28% of the patients had 2 or more gestations,
and its acceptance for a method of birth-control control was low (52%). The
good results were due to the Institutional facilities and the support of
the parents. It is required of an educational program so that they make
better decisions and elevate their self-esteem.
