TREATMENT AND
NURSING AT OUT-PATIENT DEPARTMENT IN CHILDHOOD ACUTE LYMPHOCYTIC LEUKEMIA

Objective: To evaluate the treatment and nursing
at out-patient department in childhood acute lymphocytic leukemia.
Methods: 40 patients with childhood acute
lymphocytic leukemia were treated and nursing at outpatient department
except induction of remission and high dose methotrexate therapy. 30 patients for
control were
admitted to inpatient department. A series of nursing measures were
designed for patients who were treated at outpatient department and at
home. The efficacy of chemotherapy, rate of infection and therapeutic cost were
compared between two groups.
Results: There were no significant differences in the efficacy of
chemotherapy and rate of infection. The therapeutic cost was much more at
inpatient department when compared to at outpatient department.
Conclusions: The treatment and nursing at outpatient department
is as effective and safe as at inpatient department in childhood
lymphocytic leukemia.
