Fourteen patients with Kawasakis
Disease (KD) were revised, their mean age was 5 years, with a male sex
predominance of 1.5:1. An Echocardiogram was performed in the twelve of the
fourteen patients. With 5 of them showed coronary alterations. 2 of them
had bilateral aneurysms. With the first one showed a 7mm right coronary
aneurysm. And a 4mm left coronary artery aneurysm, the second patient with
bilateral affection had a 6mm left coronary artery aneurysm and a 3mm
aneurysm of the right coronary artery, the third patient with coronary
affection only had a 4mm aneurysm of the left coronary artery. The last two
patients showed 6mm right coronary aneurysms. Pericarditis was demonstrated
in 3 patients, with a mild pericardial effusion in one of them and the
other two showing miocarditis. A coronarigraphy as well as a perfusory
gammagram were performed in those cases with echocardiographic detection of
coronary alterations. An Echocardiographic fallow up was done in 12
patients, these showed persisting although smaller aneurysms in three of
them. They all received aspirin and eigth of them received intravenous
gammaglobuline. Conclusions: Although this disease (KD) predominates in
Asiatic population, these do not exclude the possibility of the occurrence
of some cases in our country.
