in nursing care for neonatal abstinence syndrome of heroin: two cases
report

Objective:
Recently the report of pregnant women who has been drug abused and
drug addicted increased. Misshapen and behavior disorders among the
neonates of this mother are the most important results in relation with
neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS). Nursing care for these babies is a
challenge for our nurses. Nursing staffs must pay more attention to them.
Methods: In this paper two cases have reviewed
etiologically and clinically focusing in the symptoms of NAS.
Results: Good nursing care can obviously improve the
symptom and behavior disorders of these neonates.
Conclusion: The purpose of this review is to improve
the clinical care, especially in keeping environment quiet, to relief the
physiological and psychological distress, maintaining pulmonary function
well, record the output of urine and keep close to these babies.
