Objective: The aim of this study is to improve feeding patterns
and prevent anemia by analyzing the influence of feeding patterns with
anemia in infants.
Methods: According to the feeding patterns before 4 months of
infants, subjects (195 infants) were divided into 3 groups: exclusive
breastfeeding, bottlefeeding and partial breastfeeding groups. Hemoglobin
was measured individually every 2~3 months until 1 year old. For the anemia
infants, reexamination should be done every month until their hemoglobin
returned to normal.
Results:
In X2 analysis, the incidences of anemia were different
significantly in 3 groups (47.7%, 10.0%, 31.2%), p<0.01. Among 3 groups,
bottlefeeding group had the lowest incidence of anemia. This study also
showed that the exclusive breastfeeding infants with anemia mostly took more
amyloid but less iron-rich food during their weaning period.
Conclusion: Nutrition guide that giving supplementary food
correctly should be inforced to exclusive breastfeeding infants during
their weaning period. In order to prevent anemia, it is necessary to take
ferrum preparation orally for the infants with iron deficient food.
