Objective: To evaluate the value and applicability
of tidal breathing flow volume curve (TBFV) expressed as TV/Kg, %V-PF,
25/PF, PF/Ve, ME/MI, Crs, Rrs in assessing airflow obstruction in babies
with bronchiolitis, and those parameters relativity with PCO2
or PO2 .
MethodsThe
authors measured TBFV in 31 babies with bronchiolitis and 30 healthy babies,
while measured blood analysis in babies with bronchiolitis with distal
blood which was arterialized.
ResultsIn
babies with bronchiolitis, the mean TV/Kg, %V-PF, 25/PF, PF/Ve, ME/MI, Crs,
Rrs separately were 6.491.52 ml,
0.140.08, 0.370.16, 2.150.58 0.500.07, 1.320.16,
0.007 0.002,
which were significantly change as compared with healthy subjects8.431.31ml,
0.290.14, 0.690.10, 1.490.40, 0.930.04, 1.320.45, 0.040.01, P<0.01) except Crs, Rrs. There was a positive correlation between PCO2 and Rrsr = 0.45, P<0.05)or between PO2 and TV/Kg or Crsr =0.39 ,P<0.050.52, P<0.01).
ConclusionsTBFVs
parameters TV/Kg, %V-PF, 25/PF, PF/Ve, ME/MI could reflect the airflow
obstruction in babies with bronchiolitis, and there was a lower positive correlation between PCO2
and Rrs or PO2 and TV/Kg, a significant correlation between PO2 and Crs.
