Objective: To investigate the changes
of heart rate variability (HRV) of the children with heart disease and the
relationship between HRV and ECT, CK-MB.
Methods: HRV time domain analysis
method of Premier IV Holter system was used to study 22 children with
congenital heart disease(CHD), 26 children with myocarditis, 25 children
with suspect myocarditis, 26 children with arrhythmia and 27 age-matched
healthy children. Ejection fraction (EF) was examined in CHD patients, and
ECT, CK-MB was examined in myocarditis, suspect myocarditis and arrhythmia
patients.
Results: (1) Five time-domain measures
(SDNN, SDANN, SDNN Index, rMSSD, pNN50) were significantly decreased in
children with CHD. But the level of reduction was not related to EF. (2)
All HRV measures were significantly lower in myocarditis patients than the
controls. (3) There was no significant difference between suspect
myocarditis patients and the controls. (4) SDNN, SDANN and SDNN Index were
lower in arrythmia group than the controls. (5) All the measures of HRV
were reduced in ECT abnormal group. (6) Most of the measures of HRV (SDNN,
SDANN, SDNN Index, rMSSD) were decreased in CK-MB abnormal group.
Conclusion: The function of cardic
autonomic nervous system is decreased in children with heart disease. HRV
indices are sensitive markers of heart disease. HRV, ECT and CK-MB can be
used together to evaluate the myocardium impairment.
