A STUDY ON COMMON VIROLOGY INFECTIONS OF CHILDREN
RESPIRATORY TRACT IN GUANGZHOU AREA FROM 1998 TO 2000 Xie Jian Ping, He Cui

Hospital, Guangzhou, China Objective: To evaluate the
situation of respiratory viral infection in Guangzhou area. Methods: The viral isolation,
hemagglutination, hemagglutination inhibition that were processed by throat
sawb and part of blood serum. Results: There were 200 cases
were positive with influenza viruses isolated out among 4298 cases of
sawbs; among the 200 cases, influenza viruses of upper respiratory tract
isolated out172 (86 %). The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) was isolated
out 150 cases among 4289 sawbs; 139 cases belonged to lower respiratory
syncytial virus (92.7%). Herpes simples viruses(HSV) was isolated out in 20
cases(0.5%). The cytomegalovirus
was tested among 462 cases of pneumonia and bronchitis. There were 82 cases
showed IgM positive. The positive rate of CMV-IgM was 17.7%. Conclusion: The Influenza virus is
the main virus infects upper respiratory tract, RSV and CMV is the main
virus of lower respiratory tract infection. The epidemics of influenza was
two peaks, one is March-April and July-August in every year. The Herpes
simple virus that has been found in sporadic cases of upper and lower
respiratory infection.
